Tesla Motors to Unveil Model X on February 9th

Tesla will lift the curtain on the Model X, which will be built on the same platform as the Model S electric sedan, at the Tesla Design Studio in California on February 9th, 2012. The company has played its cards close to the vest so far, but we do know that it's probably going to look like a crossover SUV and should have the functionality of a minivan (the positioning of the batteries and electric motors in the floor of the vehicle should give it a pretty big interior space). It should also have many battery range options like the Model S, and it will be built at Tesla's plant in Fremont, California. But for more details, we'll have to wait 2 weeks.

As for the Model S (pictured above), things seem to be going pretty well. Tesla says that more than 8,000 people have placed orders for the Model S, which has a base price of $49,900 (after a federal tax credit), and it has sold out of its $77,400 2013 Model S Signature edition.
